Report from South Kona

Rained out after a half day of work , started pouring about 2p , when I got back home it was still sunny here. All morning thunder was going off and lightning upslope . About only 20 minutes of rain here at home , wanted more for the catchment tank ! Cold about 60 when the boys went off to school . The two Volcanoes , Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea ( white mountain ) have snow on them and its very cold. If the boys will get up on Sunday a mission to Mauna Kea is in order. We just need to find some long pants . The road goes all the way to the top , we will see how far we make it and how long we last . hahahaha . Lots of people like to load up the back of the truck and bring snow back for snow ball fights at the beach. We have all the climate zones here except for two . Don’t ask me to name them !

It was cold and had to stay under the blankets last night watching a DVD and didn,t post then . Still a bit chilly , so will have to get moving and catch up from yesterday .

Hey It’s Monday
OK we have another video , this one by Christopher Jones who like to be called Chris now .
He had his own views about the tree fort. Very good Monday , did some work and had a nice day in town . Bought some more herbs and some seeds to plant out front , another thyme plant and some seeds plus a little mint . The plan is to get a lot of different herbs growing as ground cover and to use fresh . They are planted along a slight slope with a cactus here and there for a little contrast in texture .

The waves have died down , the ocean is very calm again , still warm and refreshing for swimming.
Came home a little early today and caught some nice Whale sightings off the deck. Too far off for any Photos and am still waiting for a chance again to record the sounds they make at night. Been sitting out late waiting for them again , it seems like when I’m ready to try and record them they don’t come around.

Spent a lot of time working last week including Saturday , just getting home in time to feed the boys and get them together for school . Had Time to BBQ on Saturday , making a chicken semi Jamaican jerk style and my favorite Butternut Squash , along with some carrots and roasted garlics . Then I stayed out trying for the Whale sounds , they didn’t show up maybe tonight . When I am all ready they don’t show , the one night they were so loud there was too much back ground noise. They will show up again pretty soon . We spent the day doing some chores and making the tree house video. It lost a little quality when we put it threw itunes , we wanted the sound track and tp splice the two together. Chris is getting his own version tomorrow , since Kyle said he couldn’t climb up .

Started to BBQ tonight but ran out of gas ( in the BBQ ) made due with the oven and a cast iron pan to make some steak ( we dont really eat that much red meat just now and again ) with rice and steamed broccoli and a little salad. Just a standard menu , though nice for a Sunday night.

We are in a little bit of a drought and need some rain soon the tank is getting a little low and i hate to order water from the truck delivery. The days have been hot and sunny getting down at night at my altitude to about 61 . There was just a little rain this afternoon but not enough to even wet the ground.

The guys are in bed , when they fall asleep another try at recording the whales shall be under taken. maybe success !
