Well three days of no work , boy it will be tough to catch up, the part needed may take a week to get here so I now have a small kia rent a car that I picked up today from the Affordable car rental.
They have old cars that they get from the other rentals , but they are half the price and easy to deal with. It’s pretty funny with my poles hanging out the back windows and all my stuff packed in, I may not have mentioned that I will be running my pool service out of it for the week
. Just hope it keeps running ! hahahaha . So the day was spent hanging around town waiting for my truck , sitting at jamba Juice drinking peach pleasures and using the wifi.
The Vog has kept up and is worse than I have ever seen it and everyone else that I have talked to.
The report is that there is heavy Lava flows and the vog is affecting Maui and some of the other Islands as well. Many areas are closed down at the Nat. park and they are a little worried about a major eruption or break out of lava. Its not at the coast but up at the crater. If it does go off , grab the cameras and fire up the old rental off we go for some excitement. Now I have made many many trips to the Lava flows so I.m akamai enought not to get in to too much trouble
Just enough to have fun. Below is a report from the website for the Volcanoes Nat Park.
Scientists at the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory continue to record elevated sulfur dioxide (SO2) gas levels at the summit of Kilauea volcano in an area adjacent to Halema’uma’u crater, a popular park overlook. So2 is a hidden volcanic hazard. Exposure to the invisible gas can aggravate pre-existing heart and breathing problems such as asthma.Due to the high levels of SO2 gas, Crater Rim Drive from Jaggar Museum to Chain of Craters Road is closed.
The elevated SO2 gas levels have prompted the park to adjust visitation to the area to protect visitors and employees.
The following orders issued by Park Superintendent Cindy Orlando are in place until rescinded:
* Crater Rim Drive between Jaggar Museum south/southeast to Chain of Craters Road is closed to all visitor activity, including driving, hiking, and bicycling until further notice due to high SO2 levels.
* Crater Rim Trail from Jaggar Museum parking lot south/southeast to Chain of Craters Road is closed.
* All trails leading to Halema`uma`u crater are closed including those from Byron Ledge, ‘Iliahi (Sandalwood) Trail, and Ka’u Desert Trail.
Elevated volcanic gas levels are dangerous to everyone and has prompted these closures in the interest of visitor safety.
Most of the park and its facilities remain open including Kilauea Visitor Center, Jaggar Museum, Volcano House hotel, Kilauea Military Camp, Volcano Art Center Gallery, Thurston Lava Tube, Devastation Trail, Kilauea Iki Trail, Sulphur Bank Trail, Chain of Craters Road, Kulanaokuaiki Campground, and all backcountry campsites.
