Where the lava flows around the trunk of a tree , it slowly burns away leaving a mold of its trunk, there are many of these around the park. All the photos also are from various places around the park. More to come.

Oh man ,another week floats by drifting along in a haze of Vog. This morning for several hours it was clear and the horizon was visible , a clean line between ocean and sky. By 11a or so the haze of Volcanic plume and the moisture in the humid air had once again made the day into a gray featureless gloom. Along with a dead calm sea not even a ripple to ride , the dull drums are back.
There was a light rain last night at least giving a small bit of water in the tank. Watering the garden a bit before it completely drys up. I did get a nice pile of green beans tonight after work and picked two large zucchini , though they had been the target of some stinging insect and had many worms. The ones that I picked small were the best , that may be the way to get any , pick them small and early.
A Mahalo dinner was at the boys school last night with some Ukulele playing by some of the students and some power point year book displays along with some short vids made by the kids. Chris being on the year book staff was involved in making some of the presentation . Both boys received a good report card , Chris improving over the last one .
Also a nice little Ahi was given to me today that is still in a big bucket of ice , tomorrow we will slice it up into some Sashimi for a little lunch. These small fish make a nice tender slices to be dipped into soy sauce and wasabi.
No concrete plans for the weekend , some kite flying is sure to be done , maybe a BBQ and a pot of beans are in order. This new kite that came in the mail and had a test flight on the way home from camping last week . Its a pretty big kite , not the largest , about 6 feet or so. The wind wasn’t as strong as it most of the time , though blowing pretty well . This kite pulled me along and we could barely just hang on . Often pulling me 20 or 30 feet along on a good gust , Kyle could just fly it will some help and I’m sure Chris would go flying off .
Almost ordered a 9 foot kite , that size may be just too big for the wind we have down at South Point, would be very exciting to say the least. Yes I have gone a little kite crazy !
Some nice pics of a varity of plants and flowers found around the Volcano Nat. Park that were taken on the latest camping trip.

Went down this morning and worked the pump one more time , the pressure switch needed some adjustment , low and behold it started working great . Now some water is all that is required to have things running smoothly. It low and no rain has been falling here. Have I blade ran it too low ? When things are just past the desperation point , thats when it all turns around , just a test to see if you punk out. There will be a all night down pour in the next 3 or 4 days , thats my prediction, pounding on the roof all night filling the tank back to its former glory of fullness .
Vog , each day by noon or so it totally hazes out here on the west side of the island, the last few days horrible. Its funny just next the eruption it very clear and all the crap comes over here and settles. It may be affecting the rain as it combines with moisture to create the voggy haze that mat just keep it from raining as much as it should. We plan again in about two weeks to go on another mission down and over to Volcano , this time we will hike over the short trail to veiw it at night . There may be a red glow at the base of the vent that isn’t visible in the day light hours .
Still need to put together some of the other short videos that we have from the trip, the two short hikes we did and some that I hope will capture all the birds singing chattering and chirping away in the forest. Plus several pics of different flowers and plants found around the park.
