Clear Skies at Volcano Nat. Park

From Volcano to Home

Back to work on Tuesday doing Monday and most of Tuesday together , it was much more fun camping. The Vog rolled in with a vengeance strait from the Crater to Kona, mixing as we learned with the water vapors in the air creating the intense haze. ( see the video ) When the gasses first come out they are not as intense as when they mix with the water vapors in the air and continue to do so as they come up here forming this crummy haze . The thing is that its so clear at the nat. park ( except if the wind blows the gases towards where you are ) and here almost on the opposite side of the Island its some what clear in the morning and by afternoon totally Vogged out.

Planning to get the rest of the Pics and Videos together to post later today after work and messing with the da%$ water pump again. Almost had it working and messed up the new pressure switch trying to adjust it. Oh well the work of the wicked is never done :)

Still not much surf a very short small south swell came around last Saturday and left quickly , it’s been almost a month now since I have got to ride any waves. We really need a storm of some type to clean things up and get some water in the tanks. Last week they had lots of rain in town where the county water is and just a little down here. Keeping the tank at very low level , one of those all night pounding rains are sorely needed .

Out of the garden we are getting some zucchini and green beans , some of the tomatoes are getting fruit though the birds I think are getting many of the small ones as they form. The peapods are coming up that were replanted , they have been a nice little crop , Chris eating most of them as a snack, though I think he likes a bag of skiddles just as well . :)

There will be a short vid of the new kite that came in the mail and we had it out for a test run on the way home from Volcano. It pulls you off your feet in the powerful winds at South Point. I’ll admit that I had the idea of sneaking down by the eruption and filming the kite flying thru the gases . LOL

Off to work it’s sunny now and nice this morning , it most likely will not last as the day goes on, and try to get this water pump to work again. Thats if we have any water left , we rain baby rain .

Happy Smiles Steve

Back from Volcano

Back in one piece , with just one minor injury , from a very wild and fun filled Volcano camp out.
Two full nights , just like hotels two nights are happening one just doesn’t give you the full day to have fun, many adventures and several videos and many pics. We could have stayed another night it was so fun , went to the crater and saw the eruption today very cool see the video the first of many from the trip, wild adventures galore. Loaded up and cruised out Saturday afternoon , coolers full , fire wood at the ready. Prepared for adventure and any type of weather and since it was a holiday weekend thinking the camp ground we like would be crowded. To our surprise it was wide open and our favorite spot open and waiting. Cool and no rain , we set up quickly and had a nice fire going before we knew it. I had a new pump for the air mattresses that worked great and pretty fast, the thing that makes camping so much more enjoyable is sleeping in comfort , pumped up the beds to a nice firm level almost better then home. Had the kitchen up and lattes going with the first night dinner of burritos rolled up and the lanterns lit , that cool slightly gusting breeze flowing around the trees for just the right outdoor vibe.

Watch the first Video and be ready for all the tales of adventure, many many pics will be going up over the week.

Hugs and Kisses Steve

Lava Flowing Thru Rain Forest

Aloha Friday

Aloha Friday on a three day weekend , two and half for me , hurray. It’s been poring in town every afternoon and night in town making it a long week for me . Just light rain here at home , the tank is still justing hanging in there at a very very low level, enough to keep the garden watered. Plus the pressure switch on the water pump stuck on almost blowing out a hose and pumping all the remaining water out. It was just hanging by the last threads and that part was easy to replace it’s finding the new switch , it seems as if everyone is out of them right now . We have to switch the pump on by the breaker when we need it for now so that it wont just keep running and build up too much pressure.

Off early to town tomorrow to get a hair cut before I look like a complete HoBo :) , just finish a bit of repairs and then free ! Ditching work on Monday and have a bit of a hair to head to Volcano for a couple of days of camping. Kyle has been wanting to go and we haven’t been down in a while. Sometimes it can get crowded in the limited camping spots that they have , but we are pretty self sufficient , having a nice camp set up. I believe in comfort and not suffering but still keep it traditional , having a lot of fun cooking and doing little adventures. It’s raining now the weather may have to be checked , we are ready for rain and stay dry most of the time. We like to make a nice little area covered by tarps next to the truck when it rains with the table and chairs. The old Coleman lanterns fired up ( the ones that run on Coleman fuel not the propane ones ) stove going with various goodies , hot chocolate , lattes keeping it cozy and warm. safe from the rain with a card game out maybe Mille Bournes or cribbage . When you camp in Volcano you have to be ready for any type of weather it changes fast, plus for us since it is at 6000 feet it gets cold at night for a change of pace. Plus some times just for fun we jump in the truck and cruise over to the Volcano House Hotel to hang by their big fireplace in the rocking chairs. It’s a traditional stop especially if a lava mission is going ..ing out at 6000 foot cold most likely raining and then dropping down to sea level with 20 to 30 degree or more change in temperature.

In other news my new 7 foot kite came and we may get to do some flying also this weekend. Something a little bigger with more pull just to add to the fun.

New look  upgraded the site a little with a new look.
Better check the weather, there is a steady pattering now , fill tank fill.

Angels are Dreamy , love Steve
