Report from South Kona

The 4 of July went off as usual with c street sending sparks into the air and explosions ringing the ears. Kyle did all the setting off and lighting this year he really really loves fireworks. There is quite a lot of them , still not sure how he got me to buy so many , long strings of cracklers ( they changed the name from firecrackers because now you need a permit for them though not sure there is a difference ) that have a big blast at the end . Endless spinners that either exploded or sent a shower of sparks flying. He also made several Kyle specials , variety of spinners and crackers stuffed in a plastic bottle , they were very fun and very very unpredictable . Was in a mood to cook and made a couple of nice dishes. a chicken with a Asian flair garlic ,oyster sauce and this and that spice ( can,t remember exactly what ones working on inspiration ) some peanuts tossed in at the last moment. Then a mix of baby carrots , onion , mushrooms , broccoli , Chinese cabbage , sauted then simmered in a Thai ginger lemon grass coconut soup. Two kinds of rice some white and also a mix of wild and brown. Chis and I like the brown but Kyle isn’t too big on it .
