Here is What Else We Did
After just making it out of Lapakahi Village the journey continued north and a cruise thru short visit to Mahukona Beach park . It is the remains of a rail head for unloading sugar to the ships. Now its a small camping area and a crane boat launch with a swimming area among whats left of the cement piers . Fishing off the edge of the parking area with a rustic building that was once the railroad office . From that fun little stop the road kept us heading north as the surrounding turned more and more lush and green with meadows cows munching away in them . In motion with the day light running out the truck with us aboard cruised thru Hawi town with its show main street full of art and coffee houses and various cool little houses . Then shortly there after rolling over hills and down thru lush gorges full of greenery . We made it to the end of the road a little too late to take the hike down to Pololu Valley next trip we will be out sooner because that valley is very cool and we need to descend into it . With some boards , small cooler full of drinks and goodies . Back along the turns and little one lane bridges to Keokea Park a spot that I have seen the turn off for and never had gone down to see . As the day wained on and Chris noticed we were soon needing gas so we didn’t linger there , Now we still were on a quest to find a spot for just a little kite flying and now side tracked down to a little airport that almost is never used . Passing it continued along the dirt road hugging to coast hopefully coming to King Kamehameha ‘s birth place . Threading our way around a hole or two we did find it where it’s always been almost with out fan fair at the end of the dirt road . No where was quite right for the kites so back ti the highway and inspiration . Back to Mahukona for a sunset swim , as we arrived a small boat came in and we watched it get cranked up with the wench as we swam. The water there was very nice and different with the cement pier with paces to jump off and swim, a very local place . With that done a gas stop shortly there after for some gas and along the long desert road home . Rolling along in the dark night back to South Kona and home. Didn’t fly kites or actually stop in Hawi as planned but had fun adventures anyhow now we have plans to go back and maybe even camp up there .
Love & peace Steve Mr Jones

Road Trip , Destination Semi Random
Popped out of the driveway not too early , after some hanging out and a couple of lattes . A cooler , trunks , bag of goggles and the kites tossed in the truck and hody ho off we go up north. Destination Hawi and the north part of the Island , now not having been up there for so many years I forgot how nice it is up around that part of the Island . Hitting the store the cooler was filled with some various drinks , gator aids , mini sodas plus a jar of dill pickles for Chris and a bag of sun chips . Pit stopping at Jamba Juice for a Peach Pleasure and you know Chris goes for the Strawberry Surf rider because its nicely tart , Kyle sticks with the old favorite Gotta Guava . This time we all also had a shot of Wheat Grass juiced right there and served with a wedge of orange , they were shot right down and with the bit of orange they really were fun . It jazzed us up for the ride I can see why people get a shot every day it gives this healthy rush that with the gig juices kept us going all day .
Now under way our first stop on a random whim , was to check out Spencer beach park for possible camping trip in the future , sighting right next to it the new visitors center for the Pu’ukohala Heiau National Historic Site . Cruised into the parking lot to check it out finding a short little movie to watch in the cool little out door theater and perusing the gift shop . I always end up getting a pin or some little thing in these shops , this time a pin and a walking stick emblem , plus a post card was purchased . They are very cool there and we went to check out the Heiau and the smaller one that had suffered damage form the earth quake back a couple years. We have some fun video of the visit to the royal beach and some of the interesting things there . Covering some more territory next as we closed in on Hawi and keeping our eyes open for some kite flying spots we spotted they turn to the Lapakahi Historical park , a 600 year old nearly intact Hawaiian village. The wood and other things of course didn’t last , though the layout , all the house platforms and other sites including burial are still there. It was getting late by this time about 330 and they shut the gate at four , the Aunty that works there was however at the gate already prepaired to lock it up
, we made it but the poor three Japanese girls may have been locked in . lol Now we did some more stuff but that will go in tomorrow and all video can be put in a little movie too.
So untill part 2 ,
Peace and happiness Steve , Mr Jones

Saturday Morning
Well here we are Saturday morning , quiet sunny , bright green leaves full of light and dark green leaves still in the shadow . Giving a alternatively warm and cool breezes lightly wisping around the deck. The ocean is very calm , smooth , two or three kayaks can be seen down on the coast making their way along the rocky wild coast just north or us . A little motivation is needed to get going on these kind of mornings . We plan , the boys and I , to head North for some Adventuring and scouting for some spots to fly kites and see some sights . man it’s been over 5 years since I even have been up that way on the Island we have been in the habit of heading south since it is instantly into the wilds . Going North we have to go thru town , then make our way north past all the big hotels and then hit the wide open North areas .
The boys jump onto their computers , Kyle on line to game and Chris ( yelling at the moment for a Latte that is already made for him sitting on the Kitchen counter
) on second life with his avatar buddy writing scripts and generaly getting into geeking out . In just a bit the wip will get cracked and unloading the work equipment from the truck and getting some fun stuff loaded. If left to their own devises they would game all day then be mad that it is too late to go anywhere . Now that I have healed mostly the road trips begin again. lol the choice they get is chores or motivate to go . hahahaha
Pile in the kites , swim trunks , ( surfers wear trunks not swim suits ) snorkel gear a cooler couple of chairs the camera . Maybe even the lap top for some stop at a hot spot or two along the way .
Peace and Love Steve , MR Jones
