Report from South Kona

Record Day
Sped right along threw this hot sunny day , keeping to the shade , wiping on home at about 2:30. For some reason everything was easy , must be that the weather has been pretty calm the last few days, plus I did a oil change before I left this morning . If there had been waves it would have been a mellow afternoon to surf till the sun went down. This morning and this evening it has been voggy here in South Kona , getting to be dry again too . the water tank does need to get low since the liner has slipped over on one side . They are super hard to pull up when you have water , with luck this one will pull over hand hang in there . Shoot i wonder how much a new one would cost ? Oh well .

So home early before the boys , watered the garden it’s just getting a little better, hauled in some dinner stuff that had been bought on the way home . Oh ya fired up the new espresso machine and downed a few , Chris had his after school mini one . He wants to learn how to work this one too . It’s a little different , I’m sure he could do it but its still my new toy and I can just see him home alone one afternoon firing up lattes and geeking out in second life all hyped up . Fingers clicking away making his virtual lap tops and various items .

The thing is also I did gain a little weight with my arm and I think working with Kyle . He liked his big lunches at L & L drive inn . When most of the time I just have a big Jamba Juice for lunch and once a week the veggi tamales at this Mexican Place thats about the only good one on this side . I have been having a little less and now that im going again it will drop . Im not thin any way just about how I have always been .

The three day weekend is coming up and there was a thought about camping . The plan my be that we do a couple of day trip up north to Hawi , fly some kites in the meadows and go to the chocolate factory , oh man . I haven’t been up that way in a way way long time and the boys in years .

Yes it has arrived my new espresso machine , yahoo , waiting for me in a big box on the porch . My son Chris hadn’t even seen it as he came in a side door , he has been waiting for it as much as myself . It;s a Saeco Magic cappuccino plus , half as loud as my old one and has a cup warmer on top . So far makes a better espresso than the old one , plus has this milk frothing extra that brings the milk out of a glass or what ever and pumps it right thru the steam and into your cup. Didn’t think that it would work so well and that I wouldn’t really use it . Trying it after steaming the first batch the usual way with the steaming wand , it came out great hot and a very nice lovely froth to it . I may not use it all the rime because of the cleaning but is sure is fun to use . Ok now I have gone a little wild with it this afternoon and may be a little charged up . It really does make a better coffee and looks cool a little better then the old one . That one I am going to work on , disassemble , try to repair it and then have two one down stairs and one up. Thats the big trouble it fun and makes a very good latte making me a big espresso fiend . lol

Another hot day , the surf that I haven;t been taking notice of since I still can’t paddle yet , but soon , is flat as a pancake so there is no temptation at the moment . Flying the kites again is wonderful and the pulling as long as not too much , is good for my shoulder . The big kite is great after finally getting to fly it , kind of like flying a mack truck , it is big flies like a champ. Can’t wait to take it out again along with bone breaker who I had mixed feeling about flying again . But once it was up I didn’t hold a grudge against it .

Out of the Rut , Back in Action
Ending the Olympic watching this week and dogging on blogging and other stuff . The sports were very fun to watch , the Nationalism was a little too much , the whole thing is about coming together for the competition not really about who wins . Nor what country gets the most medals , spends the most money or who gets the best advertising spots or contracts .

We had some clearer skies during the past week , not perfectly clear though better then it has been , hot too the sun blazed most of the week . Sat out on the deck with the camera ready but the sunsets just are not back yet . It’s dry again some rain not as much as usual for the rainy season . None of the big drenching down pours that tend to fall in the summer . What about just one big storm to shake things up a bit .

Chris , Kyle and I all went in to town on Saturday . They helped with three pools and then we hit Kyle’s favorite L & L drive in for lunch. After we headed out to the hobby shop so Chris could check it out , they have lots of different stuff art supplies , knitting stuff and a lot of remote control plans and helicopters . We have a couple of gliders that we got there that we fly at the park now and again. Chris got to pick next and we headed over to Star Bucks where Chris got himself a big ole venti no foam latte , his favorite , same for me and Kyle had mocha frapachino. Taking them over to the patio area we got out my lap top but the connection was just so so slow that we hung for a bit and then headed back up country . Now Chris got a major attack of the giggles along with Kyle , doing the nose spray thing soaking himself with latte . The spraying and uncontrolled laughter went on almost all the way home . It’s hard to remember what started it rib poking and latte blasting out Chris’s nose kept it going . On the way home we stopped at Greenwell park by Yano hall just across the street form Manago hotel where they have the bad ass pork chops . There on the baseball field the bone breaker kite came out and in very gentle breezes it was flown again . I had some mixed feeling about it , once it was in the air they all disappeared , it was nice to see it in the air and flying it was great for my arm. The pulling , stretching and movement felt very good .

Today Sunday did a little work on the garden in the morning , getting it cleaned up a little and planting some more green beans . Snap peas that we had already planted are coming up and a few peppers have started. They seeds were all mixed up so it not known if they are hot or sweet or both. After a run with the trash up to the transfer station we headed down to pebble for a little swim. Once there a old freind , Kaleo was hanging down at the beach , haven’t seen him in years . The water was nice a little cool , just perfect for a afternoon dip , Chris has started swimming very well , great in fact , the last two times we went . That takes away some of the worry about being around the ocean . The kite came out today too plus the new kite that we haven’t flown yet went up for its first flight . The wind was blowing just a little more today at the beach , the kites flew here and there with out any broken bones . LOL . The big kite is very strong and will never come out in high winds , they are fantastic fun in the softer winds , flying well as can be seen in the new video .

In other news the espresso machine has died , to get it fixed it would have to be shipped to SFO and back , it was out of the first year of warranty and they would only pay for parts. Just going to take it apart and try to get working myself . Well I ordered a new one , from a different place that was on a big sale , a little over half off . Such a good deal that it was almost less then the postage would have been. So it should be here Monday of Tuesday for some espresso fun.
