Report from South Kona

Yes my Lap Top came back today via express mail . One of the best parts , all my stuff is still here , so glad that I didn’t loose so many of my photos that are all in the computer . Now tonight I will back up my stuff for safety , my invoice files I already stored on a flash drive , still am going to back it up with the rest . there is a new keyboard and top , the track pad is new and feels just like it did when I bought this one new. I think that this one will be kept inside for a while , it is great to sit out on the deck and goof around on line but after this , a little break will have to be taken . So the lesson learned water and lap top don’t do well together lol . Plus I dont have to sit among the scattered skiddles and nerds any more . hahaha Chris will be happy that he isn’t bothered for use of his computer , like he bought it lol, it was cutting into his second life time .

Sunday was the farm fair night for us , it’s a lower price on that night and the rides are all a coupon less to ride . Plus it’s not so crowded and much faster to get on rides really no lines at all . Getting there about sunset when it starts to cool down is my favorite , plus all the lights give a much more magical look to things . Started off with a sunset ride on the ferris wheel after a short look at the animals . There was a much smaller area than in years past and less produce . The booths must be too much for many people to pay for right now . They didn’t have the super swinger this year , but the good old bumper cars were in full swing , the super sizzler out other favorite was there again too . We gave the carnival game people some of our money , I mean we played a couple of games , didn’t get a stuffed animal waa waa . Kyle did a cotton candy cone and Chris went for a candied apple , god he ate the whole this , lucky we found a hose attacked to a stand to hose him off after that . they had a fun little acrobatic show with the flying trapeze , it was just funky enough and in Kona a big hit . As soon as I can a vid of the exciting night will be put up . So as tradition warrants, we got our water melon slices as we left and munched them as we walked back to the car out of money a little sticky and on our way home thru the night after a great time .

Home from a Swim
Just back from a delightful afternoon swim , that cozy little feeling after a hot shower rinsing off the salt water , a fresh shirt and a latte on the deck . Just a scattered few people down at the coast and a gentle swell caressing the shore . Did a bunch of swimming and taking Chris down to the bottom dolphin style , he has improved so much on his swimming . Then we just hung out letting the waves roll us back and forth along the pebbley shore . I think that I’m just going to hang low out on the deck and let the kids entertain them selfs for a while .

Roaster of a day so far , ( hold on time for another latte before Chris wakes up and wants one . ) ( Oh he busted me and I had to split the espresso ) looks like a hot day today . The sun is giving the ocean a pleasant blue reflection with twinkly little sparkles . Of course till my lap top comes back I have to sit in the boys pen , I mean room to post . OK here is the horrible truth , I had my laptop out on the lanai and came in to finish dinner as we ate a short downpour came and I forgot that it was on the table . The table has a umbrella , when the rain is hard it gets the table all wet and yes it got wet . Letting it dry all night and all did nothing so since I have Apple care I called but may have not mentioned about the moisture . They found it out and water is not covered nor dropping . It was a hard choice for just a little more I could have a refurbished one that was a little better , about 100.00 more than repair . Four hundred would have a new one , the main problem all my photos are in Iphoto and my invoices also are there . If i went ahead with a new one the data would have to be transferred if it could and and I would have to take it to someone for that . So I went ahead with fixing my original one and with some luck the data will still be there since the hard drive was not damaged. I was saving to get a new laptop a little more powerful with a dvd burner, that I had wanted with this one . Now Im thinking since so much had to spent to redo my old one that I may just get a Imac like Chris’s and sync the two together . Now you know it’s all my fault for letting the rain soak my computer and I didn’t get a free fix since they could see that the problem was from water damage . waa waa waa lol .

What to do today ? The farm fair is for tomorrow we like Sunday because it’s discounted and not so crowded . Always at night, during the day it’s so hot and dusty and packed , for the cooler air and all the lights give a more festive air to the place . Old carnival rides , over priced suspect snacks , the strange lemon aid that they sell at fairs , the only real lemon I suspect is the one floating on top of the tank . Plus on Sunday the produce is often discounted and many of the growing herbs and orchids are put on sale for the last day . the time to arrive is a little before sunset so the animals can still be viewed since they start to take them home just after dark on Sunday . A giant pig must be visited to make the fair complete and who wants to miss the Watusi cattle with the massive horns that are there every year .

Well I will report back later as to the events of the day .

Something must be going wrong , everything went smooth today . lol The weather has been so calm lately there hasn’t been any big messes and not much has gone wrong . Just a bit of that trickling south swell bringing in a few little waves rolling thru . The boys have tomorrow off of school , should I leave them some chores they really have been getting away with not doing much . They can’t do any on a weekend because it’s their days off and they are tired after being at school all day . lol What we will have is Chris can get all the recycling together and Kyle can clean up the downstairs that sounds good . Can you hear them screaming , no my life is horrible , chores are evil the work of the devil . maybe I should add a little bathroom cleaning too . That can be snuck in on the weekend , they need to earn a trip to the farm fair on the weekend .

Starting to cool down a little at night , hot in the mornings , cloudy in the afternoon , thats the run down on the weather . It’s been drying out again too , then tank is getting low . That’s good though so the liner can be pulled up , one side has slipped over the edge and it can’t be pulled up with too much water in it . Plus I have some pipe to be redone to the water tank . Never have liked it the way it is , with some funky set up thats been added to here and there . I have all new valves and connectors to put in , a much simpler and smoother set up in mind .

Time to wind down , take a little herbal break , and finish up the week tomorrow .

This little damn mosquito keeps buzzing me , just can’t get this one , the little bastard . When we get these humid afternoons with a little rain they can come out and bug the crap out of you . Sitting in Chris’s room instead of at my desk or out on the lanai , It’s just not as fun . They must have got my lap top today , hopefully they can fix it without loosing all my stuff , no I didn’t back it all up . I do have my itunes backed up and on my ipods , but all my pics are on the lap top and I don,t have a back up . Yikes !

There is a sameness going on with the weather , each day is a copy of the next . Sunny till midday then blue sky is slowly taken to gray as the clouds drift in on the almost still wind . A few of the south swell waves still colliding with the craggy lava shore . Should really now place my body board behind the seat of my truck so if inspired I can go out . Close to 4 months since having ridding any waves or surfed at all . The swimming has been good down at pebble , getting my arm back in shape , still can’t quite do the round house over my head .

Those yellow mushroom are unstoppable in the garden , just going to let them run their course and sooner or later they should die out . The string beans that were replanted along with another try at zucchini have all come up and are growing well . The tomato will most likely go since they never did supply much except to the birds who love the mini little starts.
They herbs have done very well supplying a constant amount of fresh basil , thyme and oregano . Planted a little more cilantro too since that is so good fresh and picked young .

The annual Farm Fair is coming this weekend, it’s a big deal in Kona , with the carnival and all the rides . That are a little suspect on occasion . The Ferris Wheel has slowly gone from four motors to two and last year I think there was just one working one left . Chris loves the wave swingers that has these swings that rise up in the air and spin around like a merry go round but much faster . A couple of stories in the air . One of the fun things , if you forget to take off your slippers they often will jettison off and fly about the crowds below . All the carnival games that gather in all the money in exchange for , if luck is one your side , a small stuffed item that is worth about a quarter . lol There is a nice animal show . since this is a ranching and farming island , with all the usual suspects , chicken , cattle , sheep , goats and always at least one hummungous pig . There is a very nice orchid show and sale along with a bunch of fresh produce .
