Report from South Kona

We had a good day , the boys slept in till about 9a , when they were younger it was , you know the crack of dawn . lol Holidays are kept together so the kids do not get shipped back and forth as myself and many of us had to do as kids . So there are personality’s that requires to be kept calm or at least one . The boys had a fun day , Chris getting some cool things that I found for him . A t shirt that shows wi fi signals , it lights up to show when a wireless signal is there . Some thing that may have been a mistake , anoiatron a little device that has a small magnet and you can set ti to beep on buzz every few minutes , made to hide in a desk or somewhere hard to find . It’s about the size of a credit card , I wish that I had one when working in a office lol . Plus a few other cool things . Kyle got his new desk chair , a mini flying rc helicopter that crashed right away lol . Plus various items . Not too much , Since reading that the more you get the less happy you are , I think it’s true , the most fun was playing cards and making dinner .

The roast came out , the first one I had ever made , just simple rock salt and pepper then roasting in my giant cast iron pan. Wanted it about med rare , but ended up with medium . The bread pudding worked I used a recipe that the link was sent by one of the friends , just used one less egg and extra raisins , no nuts at least in the pudding . Steamed green beans and just rolls that come in the tube and you bake . I made everything but the salad that the boys aunt’s friend Natahalie made and the pie . Latte’s were going all day , the one thing that I bought myself a little stainless steel espresso cup and saucer , was fun , small just a little shot . Karen the boys aunt and my friend for a little over 30 years got to use it most of the day as a treat . She is the ex,s twin sister so inter family things are a little complicated sometimes . lol But she along with Natahalie her partner help keep things calm .

Lightning and Thunder came in around sunset , putting on a display over the ocean as we had dinner , rain falling later in the night and into this morning . Just enough reason to flake off and stay home today . I’ll just have to make a speed power tomorrow to catch up . Next week will have the same problem with the holiday on a Thursday .

In a wild rush , went to 16 pools today , if all goes well I should only have a half day tomorrow . So I can get home and party ( well anyway a few puffs out on the deck ) , make some cookies , run the trains and hang out . Get the ping pong table out for Christmas fun , we haven’t been playing for a while , my arm may not be the same but I,m ready to play . Kyle got really good when he was playing a lot of tennis . Started to win a lot , my slot as master and ruler of the table was going over to him . LOL Ping pong is a lot of fun , once the habit of playing is on . Keeping the table handy is the trick.

The ocean is super calm and the weather really nice . Clear , just a hilt of Vog , light breeze . A bit chilly in the morning getting down to 65 or so . The out look for the Holiday Weather is good . We did have some snow fall up on the summits , this year when its good we are going right up . Waiting makes you miss it .

So it’s Christmas eve tomorrow night , the winter festival time , a time for cheer in the dead of winter . The weird buying frenzy kind of puts a strange vibe to it all . The gift are fun and all , it’s the whole competition about it , who gets the most and all that , thats a little crazy . LOL

I had it all planned out , starting today with extra stops each day so I could get a little extra time at Christmas to goof off . Even though I did a lot , it wasn’t in the original plan . Ended up spending much of the day replacing a heater at one of the vacation rentals , now tomorrow I will have to power away like mad . I did stop and get some stuff for Christmas dinner at the local market . A big roast , not something we would normally , so it will be something different and special . A few bags of some local green beans , bag of potatoes and a box of raisins for the bread pudding .

Added a new look to my web site , a different theme , it looks pretty good and seems to be easier to use . Thinking of doing something a little different with the web site a new feature or something . More art and humor , surf pictures and little movies .

It’s been getting dark so early , seems so much later then it is . getting dark just as I get home .

Most of the day went by sitting around on the deck . Reading drinking lattes and for once laying around . Chris and I made a run up to the transfer station to dump some trash and made a stop at Fujihara Store for a orange soda and some gum for Chris . Brought home a Spam Musubi for Kyle , he likes the ones they sell there at the counter . Rice and spam all wrapped up in sea weed .

Later in the afternoon made our way down to the coast for a swim and some splashing around in the shore break . Water was a bit chilly at first then was a pretty nice temp after being in for a bit . Swam around a bit , climbed about on the rocks , had the kids climb thru a tunnel that had become exposed after all the waves , popping out on the other side . Little breeze was blowing making it a good time for a little kite flying . The big P 4 went up , flying around with its sea foam colors .

The rest of the day and evening was spend having lattes , out on the deck . Playing a little Mario cart , while running then electric train around the tree and flashing the Christmas lights. With the Snowman all lite up on the roof .

Finally decorated the tree tonight , ornaments on . The train all set up , running round and round the base . Kyle did the train set up , with the passenger train running first . The little click click click of the cars as they are pulled by the shinny engine . The freight train will be up next , with all the box cars and gravel cars , that are often filled with candy . Then as they come around you can snatch a bit out . lol There may be enough track to set up a second one so both trains can go at once . Wiping past each other going different directions . That big ole silly snowman is up on the roof of the carport . The fan blowing him up and a light inside glowing in the night . Lights strung up all around , looking pretty good this year . We are the only house this year so far with any out side lights on .

The days have been pretty hot , with the nights cooling down . Not much rain the last couple of days . The surf on a lull between swells .

Powering away , have about half the lights and half the tree done . There is some different personalities to deal with . So the Holiday setup is going slow . lol Kyle did a nice light line up out doors . We have the lights around the deck done and just the big snowman for the roof and the lights around the car port still left to do . Plus the finishing of the tree , ornaments and the train around the tree .

Now another heater went out on one of the vacation rentals hot tubes . Thats two this week . lol Plus a motor and a salt system to finish . I really didn’t want all this right now the money is good , but all the stress and last minute panic tends to get me a little burned out .

I think that I am set on some type of roast for Christmas dinner . I have never made one before , looking forward to the fun of making it . Plus a bread pudding with raisins .
