Looking North , Rare View of Maui in the Distance

img_1806

Just after the flash storm , the skies cleared allowing this rare sight of the island of Maui in the far distance . Just behind the Pali of Kealakekua Bay . Vog often obscures the view , today the cliffs could be clearly seen after the high winds and intense rain of the morning cleared the skies .

Wild Morning

The rain and wind came out of no where this morning sending this flying this way and that , the umbrella lfted off  and had some damage to it . Atleast it didn’t take the table with it , just broke the mounts to the gutters , that bring the water down to the tank . Some of the stays that hold the cloth to the frame of the umbrella had the threading come apart  . With a bit of sewing it can probley be fixed up . The wind was howeling so strong that things were flying everywhere .  Winging about , rain and leaves , water everywhere , various items are laying about now .  Pebble beach had some strong off shore winds , after hauling the trash that was piled in the back of my truck , now a soggy mass , to the transfer station , down the hill with a couple of the smaller kites . The wind still pretty strong gave us a good while of fun flying . Then seeing someone out swimming and relising that we forgot our trunks , Kyle stayed and I drove up grabbed Chris and the swim trunks for a bit of a swim . The water was     COLD   from all the rain and a bit rough . We all three still had a dip and then I got the kids to shore thru the shore break , taking my older body board out for just one or two shore breakers . The thing about pebble is that it breaks right on shore, so one good drop and a pitch out was good for me . One wave , one toss lol . The wind chaged direction ansd just about stopped leaving us now with some super clear skies and a veiw of Maui and Lanai or Molokai  for just a few minutes . Now the day has stormed by and its sunny and still out after such an exciting morning .

Whales Going Off , Wow

Got up late today , to go up on the deck and see a large area of white water out upon the ocean . First it was such a large area that the first though that a larger boat was sinking or something . Then upon closer inspection large bodies were thrusting up from the sea , large whales leaping up and crashing back down . There must have been a large pod since so many were going off . It was a little too far to zoom in , they were just about finished by the time I got the camera out any way . It was the first sighting for me this year , may have been the most whaled that I have ever seen all breaching and spouting off together . They are starting to do the late night sounding that sound like a elephant trumpeting . This year I want to get a recording of them , been trying for a couple of years now and either some loud noise , or too much wind causing the chimes to go off .

Ok now , it was a perfect , day well not really but close , well pretty good any way . Mainly because of getting some work things done that have been hanging over my head for a few weeks now . Now I should have a good cruise going on and get some more afternoon surf time .

Chris has a dance club on Teen Second Life and I have some pic,s of it that he and his crew have . These kids are cutting edge on the internet and have these cool parties all in their avatars .

Peace and Love Steve
