Napping

Boy it got way Voggy this afternoon I think that’s why I was super tired when I got home . The new paving at the end of the street needed a test ride over with the bikes . We did some seat adjustment and got them all ready to go this weekend . After letting them sit for a while , new brake pads , air in the tires , a little lubrication on the rusty chains . Raised the seat on Kyles and put the comfort seat on Chris’s bike that he had on his old bike . The cables broke on my cruiser they are 20 years old or so . It’s a old mountain bike that I bought from one of the bike rentals years ago . I upgraded the derailers so that it has pretty smooth gear changes and put a better seat on it . Other than that and some tires and brake pads now and then . It has been a fun bike . It just goes mostly up and down the street plus down to the Volcano on camp outs to ride around the camp ground on . I have a bit of a hair to go camping down there this weekend , blaze the fire , camp out , play some Bocce Ball on the grass . Oh I a had like a 2 hour nap after I got home .

Looking Forward , Steve

Ham Sandwich , Road Paving

Uneventful day , Monday when you don’t ditch out and adventure off is just a standard day . It is my easiest day when I do all my stop at homes right on the water . Though today there were no waves and the wind calm . Dark clouds hanging around the upper slopes with white puffy tops . A hazy sunshine down along the coast .

At Christopher’s request we had ham sandwiches on light rye bread sliced cross ways , we like to call that deli style just to be fancy lol . They are going to repave a very short section at the beginning of our street tomorrow . The pavement down there is scraped away , reveling the original
red cinder surface that all the side street had for many years . It looks pretty neat , sometimes I wish it was still like that . It gave the a rural and wind feel to things , undeveloped and a bit wild and free .

Coleman Lantern Found at South Point

img_2052

This is an old lantern not sure how old but it was found sitting next to some old foundations and sat there on the old road for a few weeks . Venturing into the old building the top was found along with another red one . I sure would like to get it going again and just may be able too . I love this type of lantern and have three newer ones now . They use the Coleman White gas that works so well . Propane ones is for noobs .

Coleman Lantern , Hunting Couqi Frogs

Yesterday when we all went down to South Point , where there is the foundation of what may have been a Military camp at one time , most likely during WWII . Various people Locals and others have stayed around there over the years . It’s one of the places the dirt roads reconnect with the paved ones . Sitting there as it had been since at least a week or two ago , a pretty rusty old Coleman Lantern , most likely from around the 50s or 60s but may have been from before that . It was just the base , the frame and handle . The top and glass long gone . Kyle and I explored a little as we got ready for the ride home , tying down the our friends quad and stuff . Inside among the the old stove that looked original and several old loungers that were more recent I found the top rusted in two pieces and also a red one from some other old lantern . Now I have most of the one and hope to rebuild it and have itr work again . If not it will be cool thing to have around . I love the Coleman white gas old fashion lanterns , having three of them and a Stove that runs on the white gas too . Couple of pumps a little fire and they crank up working well and supplying a little heat . Propane is for home BBQs and stuff like that , all those little bottles or a big tank , too much trouble . A little gallon can of Coleman Fuel lasts several camp outs and is much easier to bring along .

A couple of doors down they brought some plants home and they had the dreaded Couqi frog in them . Now the chirping at high volume at night , calling females getting ready to breed . They are loud and sharp sounding and if not stopped will breed without any predators and end up with so many that it can exceed the sound of a jet engine taking off . They are about as large as a quarter and climb up leafy plants at night to call females . Kyle and I spent some time pinpointing them tonight , there is at least two males . One up a palm tree and the other in some bananas or this other type of palm .
We have to catch them soon or the whole subdivision could be over run .

Boys Club

So we went down to South Point with my old Friend Kevin from up the top of the hill. Full boys club trip , he has two boys one 17 and one 11 , Kyle went and myself . Chris had wanted a full day with no one to bug him with chores or anything so he stayed home . Writing scrips and code with his second life buddies . They hauled down their four runner and I brought a bunch of kites . Spent the whole day between riding the four wheeler around over to the Green Sand Beach and back . Generly cruising the whole area . Back at the truck we flew the smaller kites as the wind was strong and grew in velocity all day . Everyone flew , kites wiping about , kids taking turns ridding all over the little hills and grass lands . Tailgate sandwiches , boiled peanuts for lunch , sodas and a beer or two for Kevin . The first time I have been back down there since the incident with the broken surgical neck . :)
We didn’t get the bone breaker out as the wind was too high . It was good to be back and not punk out and let a unpleasant incident keep me from going there . My dues have been paid and now only the best of thing will happen there . I have paid the piper so to speak . :D

Now time to scrape out something for dinner , Back in the saddle , Steve

Laundry

That was the main excitement tonight was three loads of laundry , and two failed inspections of chores . lol The boys did get them almost all done at least they were not running in a panic to do them as I pull up . :) LOL Watched my old favorite Russian sci fi movie , Kin Dza dza as I folded clothes . Other then that the vog rolled back in so the sundet was crap no live yahoo cast tonight . Next time there is a good one I’ll set up again .
