Earlier this week when the surf was up so much . Pebble beach when the waves are calm is very fun great for many activities . Once the waves pick up it becomes dangerous , deceiving in the moments of calm . Waves coming from deep water surge up on the shore with tremendous power . I don’t know all the exact details but a lady visiting from the mainland drowned down at the beach . Helicopters a upside down dingy , and tragedy . It’s a wild ocean and many times I have not gone in when the surf is surging , even when others jump in . A large sneaker set wave can pound even the best swimmer to the bottom . Lots of big waves can keep you from getting to shore at all . There is that old saying , never turn your back to the sea , it’s true .
Other then that it,s been a good week . One or two problems solved them selves , sometimes that just happens . Today the waves were really nice looking . I was all the way up Mauka when Chris called from home , usually I have been picking him up Tuesday and Wednesday from study hall . But he had already taken the bus home , damn , he called me too late . lol I was half way home and getting too late to turn around
.
Easter coming up on Sunday , the boys insist they are not too old for baskets . lol There is something fun about a big basket of sweets and a chocolate rabbit . Might as well do some eggs too . ( I can’t stand hard boiled eggs because of a incedent with the nuns in catholic school ) I went until third grade at Old Mission in San Juan Capistrano . You know where the Swallows return. There is a story about eggs there too , involving Lindy Lou’s Restaurant , a dishwasher and bus boy . Mysterious eggs dropping in the intersection and the cross walks . Plus a Sheriff car in the Alley . Who pulls up to two kids at the back door of the kitchen . Ha maybe tomorrow .
Ok so if you went to the front window of the Restaurant the main intersection of San Juan could be viewed . Now if one person stood in the little roofless alcove at the back door . They could lob a egg up and out , not really seeing where it would hit . Always somewhere random in the street , The other at the front window could watch with some hilarity , the inquisitive tourists , wondering just where these eggs were coming from . Giving it a bit more jocularity was the Sheriff car that pull up to the back door , where he finds two 16 year olds in a state of extreme laughter . Asking if there was any knowledge of eggs landing in the street . Standing next to several boxes of eggs they say eggs no we haven’t seen any eggs . Looking right at all the boxes he says ” well I guess we won’t see anymore anyway ” . Replying with relief ” no I don’t think we will ” the kitchen staff replied . He just cruised off never leaving the car . Watching people looking about while eggs drop and splat mysteriously around them . Is childish humor but none the less for some reason totally hilarious .

The first waves that have been a bit large came in today , some of the inside were breaking with shape . The bigger sets walling up and closing out with not much shape . It may have been the tide when I was down to check it out . I had to head up the hill early to pick up Chris at school . Went on the lower bypass road that been sitting there and just a few people living by this high end golf course . It was supposed to be a public road so there has been a scam going on and they have kept it closed till just recently when they were forced to open it for three hours every afternoon just going south. Six county employs to run it .
Stopped off at my buddies coffee farm to check out the house they just , well almost finished . No coffee ready but I received a dozen fresh eggs from their chickens they had just bought last time I was there . Ended up help load all the caged birds and bring them down to their new home . Really nice eggs . Anyway that was Tuesday and tomorrow I may get out in the water . I’ll make the kids stay home and do chores .

Alright Monday has been here , went by pretty well . This large kite was sailing around the park , I spotted it when I was down at Kona Bay Estates
working . It turned out to be a Kite Surfing one that was being trained on . Finishing up , I cruised over to see who the fellow kite flier was . He was also someone who had checked out the Kite Surfing down at Kiholo bay . Got a little insight from him on learning how . You must first get dragged thru the water to get used to it and be able to re launch them from the water . Anyway I helped him launch it couple of times . Some time I’ll get to try it and see if my surfing and Kite skills will let me get into it without much trouble . So if I come up missing and found out at sea you will know why . lol .
Man there was nothing for dinner , well there was but with the cheese issue for Kyle I had to improvise . Made up a spanish rice with left over rice , with some mixed vegs and some of the salsa . Pasta with pesto for the rest , well Kyle doesn’t go for the pesto and Chris will just have butter . But I thought I did pretty good for not much around .

Some of the time I end up working on Saturday , like today ! When there are waves I use the trip to town to hit the surf at Kahaluu . Flat and kind of rainy in the afternoon , had a idea that I wanted to make some more salsa and BBQ in the afternoon . Not motivated enough for a swim , kind of chilly , so I roasted up a couple of chilies and a white onion and mixed up some salsa . Put a bunch of Chicken on with a Kobashi Squash . Mixed up a cabbage and Radish salad . Had a half head of cabbage and picked two nice radishes out of the garden . Sliced the cabbage thin and fine chopped up the radishes . Tha radish greens are good too , sliced those up also . Kind of a experiment , tossed it all wwith some Italian dressing . Nice and crunchy it was really good we all had some , Kyle even ate his so it must have had something good about it . lol
You’re all so much fun , Steve

Home alone blazing away , playing some Cuban Hip Hop , Salsa , Calypso , HIP HOP fusion . Then I am going to blast a little hard core dub , vapor , latte out . LOL Of course I should clean it up instead of playing mario cart and playing around on line . House left in a semi state of destruction , as the days of spring break dwindle down . They are on a little mini vacation on the other side of the Island right now .
The vog has been lingering for the last week or more , patches of sun thru the thick haze encasing all of Kona . The change of seasons starting the flow from the south , south swells , thick summer air , long hot days drifting around on the sea . Warm waters , those playful summer south swells , smaller waves and some times long flat spells . Summer days snorkeling and lounging back in the shade . Hidding from the sun , dry and salty skin , sun glasses filtering the bright flashing sun light .
