Report from South Kona

Instead of the Beach , Ute and Kaylee first camp with the Jones Boys was down to the Volcano nat. Park . Where its cold ! lol . We rented a car for the weekend so we could fit everyone since we still just have the little pool truck . Loaded up on Saturday morning with all the stuff , that I like to keep ready so just the coolers and food need to be packed . The camp trip was off , with The Dewman in the back of the truck with me and Chris . Ute had the sleeping gear , Kaylee and Kyle in the car . The truck was packed with fire wood and bikes stacked on top . Leading the way as we adventured south thru the wild’s of Ocean View , the farm country of Naaleu and Pahala . Then up to the 4000 foot level of the Volcano camp ground . Being the long weekend there were several groups of campers , but we still landed in a great spot . One that we haven,t stayed in before but we liked alot , it may be our second choice now with a nice grass area and a little off by it self .

Upon arrival up went the tents , out came the kitchen , around the camp ground went the bikes . Fire wood piled up , chairs set around and we were ready for a two night wild time .
We went over to the vent at the Jagger museum the first afternoon and did the walk threw the Thurston lava tube . Splashing along the puddles we made it thru along with all the tourists and then made our way back to the campground for Food and fire . Just a light rain the first night with a morning of coffee , spam and eggs and just some goofing around . Playing a little bocci ball , riding bikes and walking Dewey around . We loaded up the car and drive all the way down to the coast to all the Petroglyphs . Since Dewey could not go on the trail to the main group , no dogs on trail the big babies , the kids hiked down . Ute myself and Chris , who came back early , got out the kites and did a little flying over the lava in the very gusty wind . Ute got a little wild and went down on the Lava rock while flying the bone breaker in some very heavy winds . She didn’t want to quit , but the wild got so strong that the lines were getting ripped out of her hands . LOL

Back for another night of fun and fires , plus a fart lighting contest after a dinner of burritos . Chris won the 5 dollar prize . After several tries a major flash that sent me down on my butt and a fire ball threw the night . Won the night with much hilarity .

The next one at the beach , so get ready .
