Report from South Kona

The snowman rises , up on the roof , all lit up finally . Kyle and I got the lights going not all of them but a lot. You can view the totally exciting video on my page it is thrilling. Another great day sunny with some wind and a little rain in the afternoon, missed the sunset , was on a light hanging mission , there will always be another one tomorrow.

It’s the time of year to do small acts of kindness , ones that help , ones that no one knows who did them. Good deeds that are unplanned and not asked for. The ones that put a little sparkle on your soul. I had read once about the two types of good deeds ones that are done for the fame of doing them, the ones that are done so people can say oh that person did this or that aren’t they great. Or the unplanned good deeds that are done on the spur of the moment because something is there that should be done .
Those I think are the simple acts that change the world for the better.

Yes just another day, nice and sunny with maybe a swell starting to come in, spent the day cleaning up all the mess from last week. The vog blew away and we have a very clear horizon line , sharp and clean. Arrived home a little too late for any lights tonight , it’s getting dark so early , tomorrow the boys will have to unroll all the light strings so we can have a jump on getting them up. I really like the snowman can’t wait to get him up on the roof. Christmas will be here before you know it , still have to plan a dinner thinking of doing a ham or maybe a roast , something other than turkey. Maybe a bread pudding with raisons or something like that. It’s time to get the kids settled , we have a couple of Doctor Who videos to watch , and to bed( shhhh they get grumpy if they don’t get enough sleep) I think a odd ball christmas story tomorrow, strange Jones family traditions.

The weather has calmed down again and a batch of Vog ( Volcanic Haze ) has blown in from the south. The one good thing about storms, the air get sparkling clean and clear. The sunset was kind of voged out tonight but its a nice pleasant evening with a light breeze and dark already. The tree is up and looking good , just waiting for the new train track to get here so we can get the trains running around it, the boys and I love to have the trains going with all the tree lights on. Tonight hopefully the lights around the deck railing will get put up and going. Need to get home early so the big snowman can go up on the carport, you know it’s one of those ones that a fan blows up with a light inside, it’s been going up for several years now and is the high point of our light show. Not as much as many people do but we like our christmas lights.

I need to get some of the things on the santa lists ( they never have yet asked, but I’m sure they know and just don’t want to loose a source of a gift or two hahaha ) .On my second Latte just about ready for some light hanging . I have some pics with some of our ornaments if you have time to waste .see myspace.

It’s Aloha friday once again, another windy day with just a small amount of rain, woke up with a rainbow over the ocean and liquid sunshine . A little bit of a hard workday with all the messes , none the less very pleasant . Kawika down at the end of the street has been blowing the conch shell horn as a hawaiian tradition as the sunsets. Its a nice quiet evening as the sun sinks below the horizon and the cool refreshing breeze blows across the palm fronds . The lattes are made and the crickets are starting to chirp.

Tomorrow just a bit of work and some surfing if the ocean calms down , the wind is still blowing white caps across it making the surf a little jumbly. Tomorrow night is the tree decorating and light show night. The boys and I will brew up some hot chocolate, the real kind not instant, whip up a latte or two and bake a few cookies just to be that way. Around here sometimes its like the old Leave it to beaver show with a Bob Marley sound track.

Its the boys choice for dinner tonight, burritos and for me casadilla and some chips and southpoint salsa ( they make down south from here its really good, I should make my own maybe next time ) Maybe some banana pear ice cream for desert.

The rain was coming down as the day began, and turned into a sunny cloud filled morning, with large black clouds swirling around. Still a little blustery , nothing like yesterday, with rain here and there. Ocean stormy today with that victory at sea look, a couple of people surfing this morning , the waves are all jumbled up and not that great to ride. Its cool tonight at sunset down to 67 and chilly at night.

Perfect evening for a latte , little downpours of rain with clouds all along the horizon, and just a little cool burst of wind now and again. I have been wanting to put up some lights but with this weather and all the lightning this weekend will be better. A little hot chocolate and tree decorating a big snowman on the carport roof, the kind that blows up with a little fan and has a light inside. I like a electric train to go around the tree we need some new tracks , with all the lights off , and only the tree and the little headlight of the train going around it’s super cool. The truth is that when the boys were babies they got two great train sets, that they were too young to touch so I had full use of them for several years, and would run both at the same time around the tree. Now the tracks are a little worn out and I bought two new engines earlier this year since the old ones broke . A new set or two of tracks and we are good to go again. now the boys are old enough to set them up them selves.
